Disclaimer
Please read this disclaimer carefully before relying on anything you see on KenyaTax (kenyatax.com).
We are independent
KenyaTax is an independent website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the National Treasury, the Government of Kenya or any other government body or agency. We do not act for or on behalf of any of them. Names such as KRA, iTax, eTIMS, NSSF and SHIF are used only to describe the taxes and services our tools relate to. Where we link to the official KRA iTax portal or another government site, it is an ordinary link for your convenience.
We are not KRA and we cannot file your returns, issue a KRA PIN, register you for tax, give you a Tax Compliance Certificate or access your iTax account. We will never ask for your KRA PIN, your iTax password, your ID number or your payment details. If someone using our name asks for them, do not respond.
Not professional advice
Everything on this site, including the calculators, worked examples, guides and blog articles, is for general information and education only. It is not tax, legal, accounting, financial or investment advice, and reading it does not create an advisory or professional relationship between you and us. Your situation may involve facts, reliefs, exemptions or exceptions that a general tool cannot know. Before making a decision that matters, such as filing a return, registering for tax, setting prices, signing a contract or importing a vehicle, speak to the Kenya Revenue Authority, a registered tax agent or a qualified professional.
Calculators give estimates
Our calculators apply the rates, bands, reliefs and rules we have recorded to the figures you enter. The result is an estimate. It may differ from the amount a payroll system, KRA or a customs assessment produces because of:
- changes in the law that we have not yet reflected;
- reliefs, exemptions, special regimes or transitional rules that apply to you;
- rounding, timing and the date a payment or import is treated as made;
- figures that were entered incorrectly or incompletely;
- different valuations, for example the customs value KRA assigns to an imported vehicle;
- errors or omissions on our part.
Each calculator shows its working and the date its rates were last checked so you can see how the result was reached and judge whether it fits your case. If the date is old, check the current rate with an official source.
Accuracy and currency
We make a real effort to keep our rates and explanations accurate and up to date, and we mark rates that have not yet been verified against the official source. Even so, we make no representation or warranty, express or implied, that anything on the site is complete, current, error free or suitable for your purpose. Tax rules in Kenya change frequently through the Finance Act, legal notices and KRA guidance, and a change may take effect before we update the site. The official legislation and KRA publications always prevail over anything on KenyaTax.
Your responsibility
You remain responsible for your own tax compliance, including filing returns, paying the correct amount and keeping the right records, and for checking any figure before you rely on it. Penalties and interest for late or incorrect filing are your responsibility, not ours.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss or damage, including additional tax, penalties, interest, lost profit or lost opportunity, that arises from using the site or relying on its calculators or content. This does not limit any liability that cannot be excluded by law. Our Terms of Use set out the full position.
External links and advertising
The site may link to external websites and may display advertising or sponsored content, which is labelled. We do not control or endorse these, and are not responsible for their accuracy, availability or practices. Dealing with an advertiser or visiting a linked site is at your own risk.
Calculation results you save or share
If you save a result to your account or share a link to it, it reflects the rates and figures at that moment and does not update automatically. Treat saved results as records of an estimate, not as official documents.
Report a problem
If you spot an error, an out-of-date rate or content that seems misleading, please tell us at [email protected] and we will review it as soon as we can. See also our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
Where to check the facts
Before relying on a figure, compare it with KRA's own guidance and read our guides on KRA penalties and interest and the KRA filing calendar. Browse the tax calculators or contact us to report an error.
