Payslip Generator Kenya 2026

Generate a payslip with PAYE, NSSF, SHIF and Housing Levy shown line by line, and download it as a PDF.

e.g. October 2026

House, transport and other cash allowances.

Value of benefits you are taxed on but not paid in cash.

Your own contributions to a registered scheme.

Life, education or health premiums (15% relief).

Interest on a loan for your own home.

Applies the monthly disability exemption.

Tier II is compulsory for most employees. Untick only if your employer has contracted out of Tier II through an approved pension scheme: then only Tier I goes to NSSF.

Loans, SACCO and similar; they reduce net pay only.

Leave blank for today. Pick a past or future date to use the rates in force then.

Enter your figures above to see the result.

What this tool produces

The payslip generator turns a salary and a few details into a clear, itemised payslip you can download as a PDF. It uses the same payroll rules as the PAYE calculator, so every deduction shown (NSSF, SHIF, the Housing Levy, PAYE and its reliefs) is calculated from the current rates rather than typed in by hand.

It is useful for small employers who run payroll in a spreadsheet, for household employers who want to give a domestic worker a proper record, and for employees who want to check an existing payslip line by line.

What a payslip should show

A good payslip lets the employee verify the pay without asking anyone. The generated slip is laid out in the order the calculation happens:

  1. Gross pay, made up of basic salary, allowances and the taxable value of benefits.
  2. Statutory deductions: NSSF (with its Tier I and Tier II split), the health contribution (SHIF) and the employee Housing Levy.
  3. Tax: allowable deductions, taxable pay, tax by band, personal relief, any insurance relief and the PAYE payable.
  4. Net pay, after any other deductions you enter such as loans or SACCO contributions.
  5. Employer cost: the employer's NSSF and Housing Levy, and the total cost of employing the person.

Employers are required to keep payroll records and to give employees a statement of pay. Your own contract and the Employment Act set what must appear; this layout covers the statutory items.

Using it

Fill in the employee and employer names and the pay period, then the salary details. The names are only used to label the PDF: they are included in the link you share and are not saved on our servers, unless you choose to save the payslip to your optional account. Choose the PDF button once you are happy with the figures. If an employee has a benefit such as a company car, enter its taxable value in the benefits box (the benefits calculator can work it out).

Worked example

For a salary of KES 100,000 with no other items, the payslip shows gross pay of KES 100,000.00, NSSF of KES 6,000.00, SHIF of KES 2,750.00, a Housing Levy of KES 1,500.00, PAYE of KES 19,308.35 and net pay of KES 70,441.65.

Points to check

What this is not

This is not a payroll system. It does not manage employees, keep a payment history, file returns or pay anything (you can save individual results to an optional account, but that is only a personal record). The PDF is a calculation aid produced by an independent website; it is not issued by any government body, and it should not replace the payroll records an employer is required to keep.

The figures are estimates for information only. Confirm statutory amounts with your payroll provider, KRA, NSSF and SHA before relying on them.

Using payslips as evidence

Payslips support loan applications, visa requests, rental applications and tax returns, so accuracy matters. Make sure the pay period, the employer's name and the amounts agree with your bank statement. For a household employer, issue the slip each month and have the employee sign a copy, since it settles questions later about what was paid. Store the files in a folder named by year. Remember that a generated payslip is a record of pay, and it does not replace the employer's statutory returns.

Frequently asked questions

Is a generated payslip an official document?

It is a record of pay produced by a calculator. It is not issued by any government body. Employers should keep their own payroll records and may use this as a guide.

Are the names I enter saved?

No. Names are only used to label the PDF, and they travel in the link you share. The site does not store them unless you save the payslip to your optional account.

Can I produce a payslip for a past month?

Yes. Use the 'calculate for date' box so that the NSSF limits, SHIF or NHIF and Housing Levy rules for that month apply.
